It works from here (Washington State, U.S.A.), but that URL produces
a listing like this:

    Index of /

        * astronaut/
        * cgi-bin/
        * images/
        * postinfo.html

so it looks like your index.html page is missing.

I know I can do that, and that worked fine, but most people have a
home-page index.html at the root, even if only redirects to another
home page.  I assumed that Dr. Chip would want the same for his
site.

Yes, thank you!  I now have that redirect in place.  I wish I could
modify the old drchip.0sites.net pages, but as 0sites isn't showing
anything, that wouldn't help (I have ftp access to it for another week,
so I presume that I could put the redirects in place anyway).

FWIW, I know exactly how you feel.  I hate it when they do penny-ante stuff like that, especially for kids, who need to learn to save money instead of thinking it's not worth it because the banks will just rip them off.  I had something similar happen with my son's account once, and I closed all our accounts with them.
