backspace

R. shankar
Hi Vimmers,
Whenever I open vim in Red Hat Linux, I have a problem with the backspace.
In the commandline if I press the backspace key, I get '?'
I currently CTRL-H to mimic backspace. What is the problem ?

Regards,
shankar

Re: backspace

Hi Shankar,

Do this from the shell command line:
stty erase <BACKSPACE>

Where "<BACKSPACE>" is replaced by pressing the backspace key that isn't
doing what you want it to do.

If you don't want to key that in every time, you can put it in your startup
script.

It's not a Vim issue, it's a tty issue.

HTH,
